ŌMATOSHIKI –Archery Ceremony

An important part of the samurai tradition, Ōmatoshiki is an archery ceremony that lasts over an hour. A group of samurai perform the ceremony without horses, according to a tradition that is over 1000 years old. Ogasawara School has continued the tradition of the ceremony since the beginning of Minamoto Yoritomo’s samurai shogunate.
